Chapter 4 - The Battle for St. Anne'sThirty minutes later, the heavy twin rotors of the Ricci executive helicopter sliced through the dark, rainy night sky above Tampa, descending rapidly toward the rooftop helipad of St. Anne’s Children’s Hospital.

Inside the cabin, Julian sat beside Allison and Elena, holding a secure satellite tablet while monitoring the legal fallout of the night's arrests.

Below them, news outlets were already broadcasting breaking headlines that shattered the Florida underworld:

BREAKING NEWS: TAMPA TYCOON MICHAEL RICCI AND FIANCÉE VICTORIA LANGFORD ARRESTED IN $120M EMBEZZLEMENT AND KIDNAPPING CONSPIRACY; FEDERAL AGENTS SEIZE LANGFORD REAL ESTATE HOLDINGS.

“The Langford family accounts have been frozen by federal order,” Daniel reported from the co-pilot seat, turning back toward Julian. “Victoria’s father is currently being interrogated by the FBI regarding the illegal medical facility in Ocala.”

“Good,” Julian replied coldly. “Make sure our legal team files a full civil suit to seize every asset the Langfords own and transfer it into an educational trust for Elliot.”

The helicopter touched down gently on the rain-slicked helipad, and the emergency medical team led by Dr. Harrison, Tampa’s premier pediatric specialist, was already waiting with a specialized transport gurney.

They moved quickly down the private service elevators to the four-floor pediatric intensive care wing.

The hallway was quiet, sterile, lit by soft ambient night lights. Outside Room 412, two armed private security guards stationed by Marcus Vance stood at absolute attention as Julian and the group approached.

Through the large glass window of the room, Julian saw a small, fragile four-year-old boy resting in a medical bed. He had dark, curly hair, pale skin, and the exact, unmistakable sharp hazel eyes of Don Eduardo Ricci.

He was holding a small wooden toy car, staring quietly at the rain tapping against the windowpane.

Elena let out a soft, sob of pure maternal joy, rushing into the room and pulling her son into a gentle, weeping embrace. “Elliot! Oh, my sweet boy... Mommy’s here! Mommy’s finally here!”

The small boy wrapped his tiny arms around his mother’s neck, burring his face into her shoulder. “Mommy... I knew you’d come back for me.”

Allison stood beside Julian near the glass window, wiping tears from her cheeks as she watched her sister and nephew finally reunited after three long, terrifying years of darkness.

“He looks just like your father, Julian,” Allison whispered softly.

“He does,” Julian smiled gently, a profound sense of peace washing over his soul for the first time in years. “He has the Ricci jawline. He’s going to be a fighter.”

Dr. Harrison walked out of the room, reviewing Elliot’s digital charts on a medical tablet. He looked up at Julian with a reassuring, confident expression.

“The blood disorder is advanced, Mr. Ricci, but thanks to your immediate intervention, it is completely treatable,” Dr. Harrison announced. “We can begin the bone marrow therapy tomorrow morning. With proper care, he will make a full recovery and live a completely normal, healthy life.”

Julian took a long, steady breath, looking at Allison.

“What happens to the hundred and twenty million dollar trust now, Mr. Vance?” Julian asked Marcus.

“Since the original trust expired at midnight without Victoria’s fraudulent waiver,” Marcus explained, opening a fresh legal folder, “the secret codicil drafted by your father four years ago automatically takes full legal effect. Seventy percent of the fortune goes directly to Elliot upon his twenty-first birthday, with Elena and a court-appointed co-trustee managing the annual dividends for his care and education.”

Marcus looked straight into Julian’s eyes.

“Your father’s will specifically named one person to serve as the co-trustee and guardian of the family legacy, Julian,” Marcus revealed. “He named you.”

Julian stared at the legal document, seeing his father’s dark, familiar signature signed at the bottom of the page, dated just days before his death.

Beneath the signature lay a small, handwritten note from Don Eduardo:

“To my eldest son, Julian. I know I built an empire in the shadows, but you are a man of honor. Protect your little brother Elliot, guide him toward the light, and use this fortune to heal what I broke.”

Tears welled in Julian’s eyes. His father hadn't trusted Michael; he had trusted him.

Julian looked at Allison, then through the glass at tiny Elliot smiling in his mother’s arms.

He took the golden fountain pen from his pocket and signed his name firmly on the trustee line.

“I’ll protect him,” Julian swore quietly. “I’ll protect them both.”
