Chapter 3 - The Sunrise Execution of Corporate Assets

By 8:00 AM the following morning, the golden sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows of our downtown penthouse corporate office illuminated a very different reality for Callum Voss.
The divorce papers had been delivered precisely at sunrise, accompanied by an emergency freeze notice across all personal and joint accounts. But that was merely the opening salvo of a much larger earthquake.
Standing in the center of the executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor, Callum looked like a man who had aged twenty years overnight. His eyes were bloodshot, his skin gray, and his hair unbrushed. Surrounding the long mahogany conference table were the regional syndicate bosses, major shipping partners, and financial backers who kept the Voss empire afloat.
And sitting at the head of the table—in the supreme leather chair traditionally reserved for the majority stakeholder and supreme chairperson—was me.
"What is the meaning of this?!" one of the senior European syndicate partners demanded, slamming a thick financial dossier onto the polished wood table in absolute fury. "We received emergency notices this morning stating that all primary capital liquidity, overseas shipping clearance codes, and private equity funding linked to our holding trust have been frozen indefinitely!"
Callum turned toward the table, his face turning the color of ash. "Frozen? That's impossible! I am the head of operations! No accounts can be locked without my express authorization!"
"They can, and they have," a cool, synthesized voice echoed through the room’s high-tech intercom system.
Beckett stepped away from the digital display panels as the floor-to-ceiling screens lit up with a complex, glowing web of global corporate ownership charts.
"Allow me to clarify for the gentlemen present," Beckett announced smoothly, adjusting his cufflinks. "For the past ten years, my father’s public empire operated under his name, yes. But the underlying private equity trust—the legal entity holding seventy-five percent of our shipping licenses, real estate holdings, Swiss bank reserves, and political immunity contracts—was registered entirely under my mother’s maiden name and managed through my secure legal trust."
A heavy, terrified silence fell over the room. The regional syndicate bosses slowly turned their terrified gaze from Beckett to me, realizing the terrifying truth.
"Every single contract, every port authority bribe, every legal loophole, and every financial lifeline that protected this organization from federal indictment wasn't maintained by Callum," Gideon added calmly, stepping out from the shadows near the windows with a thick stack of forensic audit reports. "It was reviewed, structured, and executed by my mother. She kept you all out of prison for a decade."
Callum staggered backward, his knees buckling slightly as he grabbed the edge of a chair for support. The devastating realization crashed down upon him with crushing force. "Rosalind... you... you control the trust? You own everything?"
"You forgot something fundamental, Callum," I said softly, resting my hands flat on the polished wooden table as I looked across at him with absolute calm. "When we started out with nothing, we made a pact: I held the keys to survival so you could play the boss. You grew arrogant. You thought the crown belonged to the person wearing it on stage, completely forgetting who forged the metal."
Before Callum could reply, the heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open with a loud bang.
Sloane stumbled into the room, looking utterly frantic, disheveled, and desperate. She was still wearing the crushed, expensive designer dress from the night before, her makeup smeared across her cheeks, and her hair tangled.
"Callum! Thank God!" she cried out, rushing toward him and grabbing his arm. "Some men in black suits just came to my penthouse! They threw all my clothes into the street, seized my bank accounts, and told me my apartment lease was terminated! They said I'm being sued for multi-million-dollar defamation and corporate interference!"
Callum violently shoved her away, his face twisting into a mask of pure, murderous rage. "Get away from me, you stupid bitch! Because of your arrogant stunt last night, everything I spent twenty years building has been destroyed!"

Sloane’s jaw dropped in absolute shock. "What? No! You promised me you'd take care of me! You said your wife was an aging nobody, that you'd throw her out with nothing!"
"She didn't throw me out, Sloane," I said, standing up slowly from my chair, towering over them both. "I am dismantling everything you thought you were stealing."
