Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Coup and Madison’s Betrayal

The emergency shareholder meeting for DeLuca Holdings was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. sharp on the top-floor executive boardroom.

Julian had spent the entire previous night frantically calling board members, venture capitalists, and political allies, desperately trying to rally votes to block the asset freeze and oust me from any proxy control. He genuinely believed that his masculine charm and corporate title would be enough to save him.

He was catastrophically mistaken.

I walked into the boardroom wearing a sharp, tailored black Armani pantsuit, accompanied by Grace Monroe and my father.

Julian sat at the head of the mahogany conference table. He looked exhausted, his eyes bloodshot, his suit jacket wrinkled from sleeping in his office. Standing nervously right behind his chair was Madison Blake, clutching a tablet, trying desperately to project an air of corporate importance she hadn't earned.

“This meeting is entirely out of order!” Julian barked the moment we walked in, standing up and slamming his hand on the table. “Under corporate bylaws, as CEO, I dictate the agenda!”

“Sit down, Julian,” my father commanded calmly, taking a seat directly across from him. “You ceased being CEO at 8:00 a.m. this morning when the majority voting shares held by the Hart Family Trust were officially recalled.”

Absolute silence crashed over the boardroom. Several senior board members—men who had secretly despised Julian’s arrogant management style for months—instantly lowered their eyes, refusing to meet his panicked gaze.

“Recalled?!” Julian shrieked, his voice cracking. “You can't do that! I hold the operational contracts!”

“Operational contracts are entirely dependent on solvent foundational capital,” Grace Monroe announced smoothly, opening a leather folder and sliding certified documents toward the board members. “And as of today, the forensic audit has uncovered severe criminal liabilities involving unauthorized asset diversion, fraudulent shell companies, and systematic embezzlement directly implicating the chief executive officer—and his primary administrative assistant.”

Madison turned completely white, dropping her tablet onto the polished wood with a loud clatter. “That’s not true! I didn't know anything about illegal accounts! Julian told me those funds were bonuses!”

Julian whipped his head around, staring at her in sheer betrayal. “What did you just say, you ungrateful little liar?!”

“I am not going to prison for you, Julian!” Madison shrieked, tears springing to her eyes as panic took over. “You’re the one who set up the offshore Cayman accounts! You’re the one who forced me to sign the wire transfer authorizations under threat of firing me!”

The boardroom erupted into chaotic murmurs. The facade of corporate invincibility Julian had spent years constructing evaporated in less than sixty seconds.

I watched them tear into each other with cold, detached satisfaction. There was no theatrical screaming on my part, no dramatic hair-pulling. True power didn't need to shout; it simply observed the collapse of the unworthy.

“Mr. DeLuca,” Grace said, sliding a final piece of paperwork across the table directly toward his hands. “This is a voluntary resignation agreement coupled with an immediate waiver of all equity claims in DeLuca Holdings. If you sign it right now, the Hart family agrees to withhold the most damning federal embezzlement evidence from the U.S. Attorney's office for forty-eight hours, giving you time to pack your bags and leave the state.”

Julian stared down at the document as if it were a literal death warrant. His hands shook violently as he picked up a Montblanc pen—the very pen I had gifted him on our first anniversary.

He looked up at me, his eyes filled with pathetic, pleading desperation. “Vivian... please. After everything we shared... is this really how you want it to end?”

I leaned forward, resting my hands flat on the polished mahogany table, locking my eyes onto his.

“You wanted the life you deserved, Julian,” I whispered softly, echoing his exact words from the office desk. “Congratulations. You’ve finally earned it.”

With trembling, defeated fingers, Julian scrawled his signature across the dotted line, effectively erasing himself from the very empire he thought he had conquered alone.

Without a word, he stood up, turned his back on the boardroom, and walked out the double doors forever, followed closely by Madison, who was sobbing hysterically into her designer handbag.
