Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Execution and the Collapse of Ryan’s Corporate Empire

The glass-walled executive boardroom on the forty-fifth floor of the Vanguard Tower offered a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline, but inside, the atmosphere was as cold as a tomb.
Ryan sat near the center of the mahogany conference table, adjusting his silk tie with a confident, self-assured smirk. Across from him sat the senior partners of his law firm and three high-ranking executives from Vanguard Global Holdings. Today was supposed to be the final, celebratory signing ceremony for the multi-million-dollar corporate partnership that would secure Ryan’s promotion to senior equity partner.
"Gentlemen," Ryan began, flashing his most charismatic, practiced courtroom smile. "I believe our legal teams have ironed out all remaining compliance clauses. I'm honored to lead this new chapter of synergy between our organizations."
At the head of the long table, the empty leather chair remained unclaimed.
Jonathan Vance sat to the right, his face carved from granite. He slowly closed the leather folder in front of him without touching a single contract.
"Mr. Moretti," Jonathan’s deep, resonant voice cut through the murmurs of the room like a razor blade. "Before we proceed with any signatures, we have an urgent matter of corporate compliance and moral integrity to address."
Ryan’s smile faltered slightly, a flicker of unease crossing his features. "Compliance? My background check and portfolio audits were cleared weeks ago, Mr. Vance."
"Indeed they were," Jonathan replied smoothly, gesturing to the sleek wall-mounted digital display behind the table. "However, Vanguard Global maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding domestic violence, felony obstruction of justice, and severe ethical misconduct among principal partners representing our brand."
Before Ryan could object, the giant screen flickered to life.
High-definition, crystal-clear footage began to play. It was the security recording from our front porch. The audio was crisp, amplifying every word.
Vanessa Cole’s face twisting in malice as she shoved me down the stone steps.
My scream of agony as I tumbled onto the concrete.
Ryan rushing to comfort the mistress while leaving his bleeding, pregnant wife on the ground.
And, most damning of all, Ryan looking directly into the camera's angle and instructing the paramedics to lie about the cause of the fall.
The entire boardroom erupted into immediate, stunned uproar. Senior partners dropped their pens, gasping in horror as they watched the brutal reality unfold on screen. One of the founding partners turned an aggressive, furious glare toward Ryan.
"Is this a sick joke?" the partner roared, slamming his fists onto the table. "You lied to the police! You covered up a violent assault on your pregnant wife!"
Ryan’s face drained entirely of color. He stood up abruptly, knocking his leather chair backward onto the carpet. His hands shook violently as he pointed a trembling finger at the screen. "That... that’s out of context! That’s a private family matter, it has nothing to do with firm business—"
"A private matter involving felony battery and the tragic loss of an unborn child is very much our business, Mr. Moretti," Jonathan interrupted, standing up to tower over him with chilling authority. Furthermore, let me clarify one final detail you seem to have conveniently forgotten."
Jonathan tapped a remote on the table. A second document appeared on the screen—a legal ownership chart detailing the ultimate parent structure of Vanguard Global Holdings.
"Vanguard Global was not founded by outside investors," Jonathan announced clearly for everyone in the room to hear. "It was built, capitalized, and wholly owned through a blind trust established by the late industrialist Arthur Sterling—whose sole surviving heir and primary controlling trustee is none other than your legal wife, Emily Sterling-Moretti."
The room plunged into an instantaneous, suffocating silence.
Ryan staggered backward, catching himself against the edge of the mahogany table, his eyes wide with sheer, unadulterated terror. "That... that's impossible... Emily doesn't come from money like that..."
"She didn't marry into wealth, Mr. Moretti," Jonathan said coldly, buttoning his suit jacket. "You married into royalty, and you just signed your own death warrant."
Before Ryan could utter another word, two uniform-wearing private security officers accompanied by local homicide detectives walked smoothly into the boardroom, their heavy boots clicking against the marble floor.

"Ryan Moretti," the lead detective announced, pulling out a pair of gleaming steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for felony obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting a violent assault, and tampering with evidence."
As the cold metal cuffs snapped tightly around Ryan’s wrists, his expensive suit rumpled, and his carefully constructed empire evaporated into thin air, he looked around the room with hollow, weeping eyes. He had traded a loyal, loving wife and a trillion-dollar legacy for a manipulative mistress—and now, he was losing everything.
