Chapter 3 - The Ultimate Syndicate Alliance, the Eradication of the Moretti Empire, and the Underworld King and Queen’s Reign Over New YorkForty-eight hours after the fateful meeting at the St. Regis, the balance of power in New York City had undergone a cataclysmic, permanent shift.

The Moretti family—having lost their leadership, their primary safehouses, and their financial ledgers to a mysterious, relentless wave of clean-sweep assassinations—attempted one final, desperate retaliatory strike. Dante Moretti marched a heavily armed battalion of his remaining enforcers toward the Rossi Syndicate’s primary shipping terminal on the Hudson River, intending to burn the docks to the ground.

It was a fatal mistake.

Waiting for them in the shadows of the container yard weren't just Vincent’s elite capos. Perched on the crane gantries with a custom-scoped tactical rifle was Elena Rostova.

The ambush lasted less than four minutes.

When the smoke cleared, Dante Moretti was pinned to the asphalt by Christian’s heavy boot, his men disarmed and zip-tied, and the Moretti empire completely eradicated from the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Back at the sprawling, fortified penthouse estate overlooking Central Park, the atmosphere was a far cry from the tension of the St. Regis gala.

The massive floor-to-ceiling windows framed the brilliant, glittering lights of the Manhattan skyline.

Elena stood by the glass, wearing a sleek black silk dress, holding a glass of aged Scotch, watching the distant traffic flow like ribbons of fire.

The heavy mahogany doors of the penthouse study opened.

Vincent walked in. He had discarded his tuxedo jacket, wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms, looking every bit the sovereign king of the underworld.

He walked up behind her, wrapping his strong, warm arms securely around her waist, pulling her flush against his solid chest. He rested his chin softly against her dark curls.

“Dante Moretti signed a full confession and a complete transfer of his shipping terminals over to our syndicate thirty minutes ago,” Vincent murmured, pressing a lingering kiss against the side of her neck. “The federal prosecutors have already filed the indictments. Your father’s memory has been fully avenged, Elena.”

Elena turned around in his embrace, wrapping her arms around his neck, looking up into his storm-gray eyes with a rare, absolute peace settling over her features.

“And my contract with the underworld?” she teased softly, a faint, playful smile touching her crimson lips. “Does the head of the Rossi Syndicate plan to execute his deadliest rival?”

Vincent let out a low, rich chuckle, tightening his grip around her waist. His dark eyes burned with an intense, unyielding devotion that he had never offered to another living soul.

“Execute you?” Vincent murmured, his voice dropping into a husky, hypnotic register. “Not a chance. In my world, a woman who can dismantle an entire syndicate with a single silver ring isn't a target... she’s a queen.”

He captured her lips in a deep, fierce, undeniable kiss that sealed their reign across every boundary of power, blood, and fear.

The whispers of the gala were long forgotten, the enemies were buried in the past, and as the underworld king held his assassin queen against his heart, New York City finally bowed to the only rulers it would ever need.
