Chapter 3 - The Underground Tribunal and the Billionaire’s Cold Verdict

The subterranean facility beneath the Blackwell shipping docks was a cathedral of absolute shadows and brutal architecture. Raw concrete walls echoed with the dripping of condensation and the muffled, panicked shouts of fifteen wealthy young men who had recently discovered that their family names meant absolutely nothing down here.
I sat quietly in the glass-enclosed observation gallery on the second level, wrapped in a warm cashmere blanket, watching through tinted ballistic glass as the drama unfolded below. Dr. Reyes stood quietly beside me, monitoring my heart rate via a portable monitor.
Down on the cavernous concrete floor, fifteen men were bound tightly to heavy industrial metal chairs, their designer suits wrinkled, their expensive watches stripped away, and their arrogant expressions replaced by trembling terror. In the center of the room stood Preston Caldwell, his nose bloodied from a minor struggle during transport, his eyes darting frantically toward the heavy steel doors at the far end of the hall.
The heavy doors hissed open.
Damon Blackwell walked in. He wasn't wearing his overcoat anymore; just a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, exposing thick, scarred forearms and tattooed wrists that hinted at a violent past few people ever survived to talk about. Behind him walked four senior mafia capos, carrying thick leather-bound ledgers and digital drives.
"Damon! You insane bastard!" Preston shrieked, straining violently against his restraints. "My father is Senator Thomas Caldwell! When he finds out you kidnapped us, he'll federalize the entire state police department and level this entire dock!"
Damon didn't even look at him at first. He walked slowly around the circle of chairs, his polished shoes clicking sharply against the concrete floor. He stopped directly behind Preston, leaning down slowly until his lips nearly brushed the terrified young man's ear.
"Your father," Damon whispered, his voice carrying clearly through the room's acoustic monitors up to my gallery, "is currently sitting in my private office on the top floor. He arrived five minutes ago, weeping like a child, begging me to spare his political career."
Preston's face turned completely white. "Liar... you're lying."
Damon stood straight, snapping his fingers. Matteo immediately stepped forward, tossing a heavy black briefcase onto the metal table in front of Preston. Matteo popped the latches, revealing stacks of printed financial documents, encrypted text messages, and high-resolution photographs of offshore bank accounts, illegal drug shipments, and decades of political corruption tied directly to the Caldwell family.
"You thought you could do whatever you wanted in my home," Damon said, his voice cold, flat, and devoid of any human warmth. "You thought that because you were born with a silver spoon, human lives were just disposable toys for your midnight amusement. You broke a young woman's arm—a woman who works twice as hard as any of you ever have in your miserable, entitled lives."
"She's just a maid!" one of Preston's friends screamed from the end of the row. "Just a common servant! We'll pay you whatever you want—name your price, Blackwell! A million? Ten million?!"
Damon stopped walking. He turned his head slowly, locking his piercing gaze onto the boy who had spoken.
"Money?" Damon murmured, a terrifying, humorless smile touching the corner of his lips. "You think this is about money? Every single one of your family foundations, shell companies, and illicit real estate holdings has just been legally seized and transferred to a public trust dedicated to helping victims of workplace abuse and hospital care for low-income families. As of ten minutes ago, your families are officially bankrupt."
Panic erupted across the room. Screams of fury, denial, and sheer desperation echoed off the concrete walls.

"And as for you, Preston," Damon continued, stepping closer as he pulled a pair of heavy steel zip-ties from his belt. "You are going to experience what true helplessness feels like. Not for a few minutes, but for the next twenty years."
I pressed my hands against the glass, my breath catching in my throat as Damon raised his hand, signaling the guards to prepare for the final phase of the tribunal. The night was growing darker, but the dawn was approaching fast—and with it, a brand new world where justice was finally being served.
