Chapter 5 - The Sunrise of a New Dynasty and Our Happily Ever After

Two months later, the private maternity wing of Chicago General Hospital was surrounded by a phalanx of Moretti security guards, though no threat remained in the city. The Sterling empire had completely collapsed under federal racketeering charges triggered by Dante’s legal team, and Vanessa Sterling was awaiting trial in a maximum-security federal facility.
Inside the sunlit recovery suite, Isabella sat propped up against the pillows, cradling a tiny, perfect bundle wrapped in soft pink cotton blankets. Little Elena Moretti was sleeping peacefully, her tiny chest rising and falling in steady, rhythmic breaths, possessing a head of dark hair just like her father’s.
The door opened softly, and Dante walked in. He had discarded his usual tailored black suit for a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking every bit the proud, devoted father rather than a syndicate overlord.
He walked straight to the bedside, his dark eyes shining with an emotion so deep it bordered on reverence. He leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Isabella’s lips, and then gently touched his daughter’s tiny cheek with the back of his finger.
“How are my girls doing?” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
“We’re doing wonderfully,” Isabella smiled, her heart overflowing with a warmth she had never imagined possible. “She has your stubborn nose, you know.”
“Good,” Dante chuckled softly, sitting on the edge of the mattress and pulling them both into his arms. “She’ll need to be stubborn to survive growing up with me.”
Six months later, a private ceremony was held in the glass-walled garden of the Moretti estate. There were no corrupt politicians, no backstabbing socialites, and no forced corporate alliances. Only a small circle of trusted friends, the warm autumn sun, and a father who held his daughter in one arm while sliding a brilliant diamond band onto Isabella’s finger with the other.

As Dante pulled her close for their first dance as husband and wife, Isabella rested her head against his chest, listening to the steady, powerful beat of his heart. She had fled into the rainy night eight months pregnant and terrified, but she had returned to claim an empire of love, protection, and absolute devotion.
The mafia boss had chosen his family over eighty million dollars, and in doing so, he had won everything that truly mattered.
