Chapter 13
The weekend finally arrived with a gentle breeze,
bringing a much needed break from the corporate chaos,
that had consumed their entire hectic week.
Alexander had planned a highly secretive romantic getaway,
refusing to tell Jacqueline where they were actually going,
until they arrived at the private executive airstrip.
A sleek black helicopter was waiting on the tarmac,
its massive blades spinning with a loud rhythmic thumping,
ready to take them away from the busy noisy city.
Alexander helped her climb into the luxurious leather seats,
handing her a pair of expensive noise canceling headphones,
before buckling himself tightly into the seat beside her.
Where exactly are you taking me,
she asked through the integrated radio microphone,
smiling at his mysterious and highly secretive behavior.
You will see very soon,
he replied with a completely charming boyish grin,
reaching over to hold her soft hand in his own.
The helicopter lifted smoothly into the bright blue sky,
leaving the towering steel skyscrapers far behind them,
flying over lush green forests and deep winding rivers.
An hour later they began their slow and steady descent,
hovering over a massive and incredibly isolated island,
surrounded by deep blue and perfectly clear ocean water.
Jacqueline gasped loudly at the absolute sheer beauty of it,
looking down at the sprawling modern glass mansion,
built directly into the side of a massive stone cliff.
Welcome to my private sanctuary,
Alexander announced proudly as the helicopter landed smoothly,
on a large circular concrete helipad near the beach.
They stepped out into the warm and salty tropical air,
greeted by a small and highly discreet staff of servants,
who immediately took their expensive leather luggage inside.
The house was an absolute architectural modern masterpiece,
featuring massive open concept living spaces,
and completely unobstructed views of the endless vast ocean.
This is absolutely incredible,
Jacqueline whispered in pure unadulterated awe,
walking out onto the massive wooden wrap around deck.
I bought this island five long years ago,
Alexander said quietly from right behind her,
wrapping his strong arms around her slender waist.
I always wanted a place to escape the brutal world,
but it always felt so incredibly empty and lonely,
until you walked into my life and changed everything.
He kissed the soft and sensitive skin behind her ear,
making her lean back against his solid muscular chest,
feeling completely safe and entirely loved.
They spent the afternoon walking along the private beach,
letting the warm white sand cover their bare feet,
and collecting small beautiful seashells in the shallow water.
Later that evening they sat on the massive wooden deck,
drinking incredibly expensive and perfectly aged red wine,
while watching the sun slowly dip below the watery horizon.
The sky turned into a brilliant painting of fire,
streaked with deep shades of vibrant purple and bright orange,
reflecting off the calm and glassy surface of the sea.
Jacqueline rested her head on Alexander's broad shoulder,
listening to the steady and calming rhythm of the crashing waves,
and the strong and reassuring beat of his steady heart.
I have never been this happy in my entire life,
she confessed softly into the cool evening breeze,
closing her eyes to savor the absolutely perfect moment.
Alexander turned his head to press a kiss to her temple,
his grip on her tightening with fierce and absolute devotion,
silently promising to protect her happiness forever.
They stayed on the deck until the stars came out,
a massive glittering blanket of bright silver diamonds,
shining down on their private and secluded island paradise.
For the first time in many long and painful years,
Jacqueline felt completely and totally at peace,
knowing that she had finally found her true home.
The corporate wars could wait until Monday morning,
May you like
because this weekend belonged entirely to their love,
and nothing was going to ruin their perfect sanctuary.
