Chapter 4: Unmasking the Inside Threat

She plugged the drive into her secure, offline laptop.
The screen flickered, bypassing corporate firewalls using administrative keys her late father had secretly embedded into the family trust decades ago. Folder after folder of financial data unspooled across the monitor.
The numbers were staggering. Over the past twenty-four months, more than twelve million dollars in liquid capital had been systematically siphoned out of De Luca Shipping & Logistics.
And every single unauthorized transaction traced directly back to a single secondary entity: Arbor North Holdings.
Isabella’s breath hitched as she opened the corporate registry documents for Arbor North Holdings. The registered owner wasn't a rival syndicate boss or an anonymous overseas shell company.
It was Dante Ricci. Her own cousin by marriage.
The man she had personally brought into the De Luca empire when he was broke, offering him a managerial position out of family loyalty. He had spent years smiling at her dinner table, playing with her dogs, and whispering fake pleasantries, all while systematically bleeding her husband’s empire dry alongside Bianca Ricci—who, as corporate records revealed, was Dante’s maternal half-sister.
The entire affair wasn't just a betrayal of marriage; it was a carefully orchestrated family conspiracy designed to drain Lorenzo’s assets, frame him for corporate negligence, and hand the entire North American shipping monopoly over to the rival Vescari syndicate on a silver platter.
Lorenzo was so blinded by arrogance and his affair that he had handed the keys to his kingdom to the very people driving the getaway car.
Isabella’s phone vibrated violently on the desk.
It was Raymond Chow, her attorney.
"Isabella, are you seeing this?" Raymond’s voice was tense. "Just ten minutes ago, Lorenzo’s chief financial officer attempted to execute an emergency liquidation of secondary assets to cover a sudden margin call. The transfer was blocked instantly by the trust."
"Because Dante Ricci has been quietly draining the primary accounts for months," Isabella replied calmly, her eyes fixed on the glowing code lines on her laptop screen. "Lorenzo thinks he’s just dealing with a messy divorce. He has no idea his entire empire is about to implode by sunrise."
"What are your instructions?" Raymond asked. "Do we expose Dante to Lorenzo?"

Isabella leaned back in her leather chair, a cold, fearless smile touching her lips.
"No," she said softly. "Let Lorenzo burn for a few more hours. Let him realize that the wife he discarded was the only thing keeping his house of cards standing. Tomorrow morning, we take everything."
