Chapter 5: The Fall of the De Luca Empire and a New Beginning

Inside the executive boardroom of De Luca Capital, absolute chaos reigned.
Lorenzo Moretti stood at the head of the mahogany table, looking like a man who had aged ten years overnight. His shirt collar was unbuttoned, his tie was gone, and his eyes were bloodshot from a sleepless night of panic. Spread across the table were emergency freeze notices, audit reports, and banking warnings detailing the catastrophic hemorrhage of capital.
"Find Dante!" Lorenzo roared, slamming his fist onto the glass table. "Get him in this room right now! Where is my logistics director?!"
The heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open.
Dante Ricci did not walk in looking like a terrified employee caught embezzling. He walked in flanked by two armed enforcers from the Vescari syndicate, wearing an arrogant, triumphant smirk.
"Save your breath, Lorenzo," Dante laughed, tossing a gold pen onto the table. "You don't own this company anymore. You never really did. Your logistics network, your shipping routes, your warehouses—they're all tied to shell debts held by Arbor North Holdings. As of eight o'clock this morning, Vescari shipping controls the board."
Lorenzo lunged forward, grabbing Dante by the lapels of his suit. "You ungrateful rat! I made you!"
Before Lorenzo could strike him, one of the Vescari enforcers slammed the butt of a firearm against the table, and a third figure stepped gracefully through the double doors.
It wasn't Dante. It wasn't a syndicate boss.
It was Isabella.
She wore a sharp, tailored black maternity blazer, her dark hair pulled back into an immaculate knot, her presence commanding the entire room with an effortless, icy authority that instantly silenced every shouting man inside.
Lorenzo froze, his hands dropping from Dante's jacket. "Isabella... what are you doing here?"
Dante’s arrogant smirk faltered slightly as he looked at her. "Isabella, sweetheart, you shouldn't be here. This is dangerous men's business—"
"Shut your mouth, Dante," Isabella said quietly. Her voice carried the freezing weight of a guillotine.
She walked past her stunned husband, pulled out the supreme chair at the head of the table—the seat Lorenzo had occupied for a decade—and sat down with absolute composure.
She opened a sleek leather folio and slid three certified documents across the polished wood.
"You thought you were so clever, didn't you, Dante?" Isabella said, locking her dark eyes onto her trembling cousin. "You and your half-sister Bianca thought that by keeping Lorenzo distracted with cheap perfume and luxury apartments, you could slowly bleed the De Luca logistics network dry and hand the keys to Vescari."
Dante’s face drained of color. "What... what are you talking about?"
"I am talking about federal wire fraud, embezzlement, and corporate treason," Isabella replied smoothly. She tapped the documents. "These are the unredacted forensic audit logs from the black flash drive you conveniently forgot to check for when you stole the duplicate key to my secretary cabinet nine days ago."
Dante staggered backward, looking wildly toward the Vescari enforcers, but the syndicate guards took two deliberate steps away from him, recognizing instantly that the game was over. In the underworld, losing quietly was an option; being tied to a federally exposed financial collapse was a death sentence.
"Arbor North Holdings has already been frozen by federal prosecutors," Isabella continued, her tone unwavering. "And every single asset transferred into Vescari hands has been legally blocked by the Romano Continuity Trust—which, in case you forgot, holds the ultimate master title over every single port terminal and warehouse in this city."
Lorenzo stared at his wife, his mouth slightly open, his mind completely shattering under the weight of the revelation. "The Romano Trust... you owned the ports all along?"
Isabella finally turned her gaze toward him. There was no anger left in her eyes—only a profound, chilling indifference.
"You built your tower on my family's land, Lorenzo," she said quietly. "And the moment you decided to treat my loyalty like garbage, I simply pulled the foundation out from beneath you."
Dante lunged for the door in a blind panic, but before he could touch the handle, federal marshals poured through the service corridors, pinning him face-down onto the marble floor and clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
As Dante was dragged away screaming curses, absolute silence settled over the boardroom.
Lorenzo sank heavily into a chair, looking up at his estranged wife with broken, tear-filled eyes. "Isabella... please. I was a fool. I was blind. We have a child coming. Can we... can we fix this?"
Isabella stood up slowly, smoothing down the front of her blazer.

"My lawyer will finalize the divorce settlement by afternoon," she said, her voice completely devoid of warmth. "You have your freedom, Lorenzo. Just like you wanted."
She turned and walked toward the private elevator, her head held high, her hand resting softly over her unborn son. The storm had passed, the traitors had fallen, and her true life—unfiltered, powerful, and entirely her own—was finally just beginning.
