Chapter 4 - The Boardroom Ambush, the Public Unmasking, and the Collapse of Ofelia’s Empire

The mahogany doors of the Ferreira Foundation's executive boardroom swung open precisely at ten in the morning. Forty of the city's most elite stakeholders, politicians, and business tycoons sat around the massive conference table, murmuring quietly among themselves. Ofelia Ferreira sat at the head of the table, dressed in pristine white Chanel tweed, holding court with her usual arrogant sneer. She had expected to announce my arrest and the emergency custody of my children by morning. Instead, the heavy oak doors parted, and I walked in. Not as a cringing servant, but flanked by two of Damián Roca’s most trusted legal advisors, with Damián himself standing just behind me like an immovable wall of dark authority.

Ofelia dropped her gold pen. It clattered loudly against the polished wood. "What is the meaning of this?!" she screeched, standing up so fast her chair scraped harshly against the floor. "Guards! Remove this criminal and her thug from this building immediately!" None of the private security guards near the doors moved an inch. They had already received word from the syndicate that morning: the Ferreira protection contract was permanently revoked. Damián walked forward, tossing a thick, bound dossier onto the center of the conference table right in front of Ofelia’s place setting. "Sit down, Ofelia," Damián commanded, his voice echoing through the silent room like a gavel. "We have a shareholders' meeting to conduct."

One of the senior board members, a federal judge who had previously ignored Ofelia's aggressive tactics, picked up the dossier and opened it. Inside were the decrypted digital ledgers, the audio confessions of the corrupt notary public who forged my signature, and the ironclad legal proof of Mateo's secret trust fund for Valentina, Sofía, and Paz. Gasps echoed around the table. The foundation's primary donors immediately began whispering in panic. Their names were tied to the embezzled funds; if the scandal broke publicly, their political careers and business licenses would evaporate overnight.

"This is a fabrication! Lies! Slander!" Ofelia screamed, her face turning a mottled, furious purple. She pointed a shaking finger at me. "She stole from us! She's a gold-digging nobody who trapped my son!" I stepped forward, my voice steady, clear, and carrying across the entire room with absolute authority. "I spent eleven months scrubbing your floors, sleeping on a laundry room cot, and watching my daughters starve while you pretended to be a saint for vulnerable mothers," I said, looking her dead in the eye. "You stole my home, you stole my husband's insurance, and you tried to steal my children. But your reign is over, Ofelia."

Within forty-eight hours, the dominoes fell with terrifying speed. Federal tax authorities, tipped off by Damián’s encrypted data drops, raided the Ferreira estate and foundation offices. Assets were frozen, bank accounts seized, and arrest warrants issued for Ofelia and her closest accomplices. The queen of Guadalajara’s high society found herself handcuffed in the very ballroom where she had slapped my face just days before, watched by the same elite men who now turned their backs on her in absolute disgrace.
