Chapter 3 - The Secret Weapon And The Stunning Transformation At The Venue

By 2:00 PM, the grand ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel was a breathtaking wonderland of white roses, crystal chandeliers, and cascading fairy lights. Hundreds of guests—captains of industry, society elites, and wealthy social media influencers—were mingling, sipping champagne, and whispering about the sheer opulence of the event. Sabrina had spared no expense, financing a wedding that cost more than a suburban home, much of it billed directly to corporate accounts or charged to credit lines she expected Michael to clear after they were married.
Backstage in the bridal suite, Sabrina was getting into her custom Vera Wang gown, feeling like an absolute queen. Her bridesmaids were chattering excitedly about the live-stream metrics. “Babe, your hashtag #SabrinaTakesTheWhitmoreMillions is already trending locally!” one bridesmaid squealed, shoving a phone in Sabrina’s face. Sabrina laughed, her eyes gleaming with greed. She checked her phone for any sign from Eleanor, wondering if the old woman had discovered her new look yet. There was nothing. Just silence. *She probably locked herself in her bedroom crying,* Sabrina thought with a malicious grin. *Good. Let her rot.*
At that exact moment, in a private VIP dressing room down the hall, Eleanor Whitmore was undergoing a transformation of her own. She refused to wear the hideous polyester sack Sabrina had picked out. Instead, she slipped into a custom-tailored, emerald-green velvet Armani pantsuit that hugged her tall, statuesque frame with absolute authority. Without a single strand of hair on her head, her features had a striking, avant-garde elegance—resembling a high-fashion runway model or a powerful sci-fi empress. She applied a bold crimson lipstick, fastened a pair of massive, vintage diamond-and-emerald drop earrings that belonged to her grandmother, and placed a sleek, black silk headband across her smooth scalp, framing her face with undeniable majesty.
She looked in the mirror and smiled. She didn’t look like a victim. She looked like a predator ready to feast.
Marcus knocked softly on the door and stepped inside, holding a sleek black leather briefcase. “Everything is in place, Eleanor. The audio-visual technicians have been briefed, and the master override feed is connected to the grand ballroom projector screens. Whenever you give the signal, the entire wedding party—and all four hundred guests—will see the security footage of Tyler breaking in and Sabrina waiting in the getaway car.”
“Thank you, Marcus,” Eleanor said, picking up a pair of sleek black sunglasses and sliding them on. “Let’s go watch my son make the biggest mistake of his life—before we correct it.”
Out in the grand ballroom, the string quartet struck up the traditional wedding march. The heavy oak doors swung open, and Michael stood at the altar, looking handsome in a midnight-blue tuxedo, waiting for his bride. The crowd turned as Sabrina made her grand entrance, gliding down the aisle on her father’s arm like a vision in white, though her eyes scanned the front rows frantically, searching for Eleanor.
She spotted Eleanor sitting in the front-row mother-of-the-groom seat. But as Eleanor turned her head to face the aisle, Sabrina nearly tripped over her own tulle skirt, gasping in sheer horror. Eleanor wasn’t wearing the ugly dust-colored sack. She wasn't hiding under a wig or a scarf. She sat tall, radiant, and completely bald, wearing a breathtaking emerald velvet suit that radiated pure wealth and untouchable power. The emerald earrings caught the crystal chandelier light, flashing like warning beacons.

Sabrina’s heart hammered against her ribs. *How? Why isn’t she crying? Why isn’t she hiding?*
Michael, noticing his bride’s sudden hesitation, turned to look at his mother. His jaw dropped. He took a few steps backward down the altar platform, staring in utter disbelief. “Mom?” Michael whispered into the quiet hush of the room. “What... what happened to your hair?”
