Chapter 5 - The Queen of the Bluffs (The End)

Six months later.
The evening sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean, casting a brilliant golden glow across the floor-to-ceiling glass walls of the compound’s main living pavilion. The air was warm, peaceful, and filled with the gentle, rhythmic sound of ocean waves crashing against the cliffs far below.
Inside the sprawling suite, Paige stood near the glass wall, looking out at the horizon. She wore an elegant, emerald-green silk dress that fit her perfectly—chosen by her, paid for by her own money. Her skin was radiant, the physical bruises of her past completely gone, replaced by an aura of absolute confidence, power, and inner peace.
Colin and his father had both been convicted in federal court three weeks earlier, sentenced to thirty and twenty-five years in prison respectively, without the possibility of parole. Their corrupt corporate empire had been completely liquidated by federal authorities, and Arthur’s debts had been legally erased through Paige’s brilliant restructuring testimony. Her father had moved to a quiet retirement village in Florida, liveable but stripped of his grand illusions.
A pair of strong, warm arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.
Paige smiled, leaning her head back against Gabriel’s broad chest. He pulled her close, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder, his hands resting possessively—yet gently—over her stomach.
"What are you thinking about?" Gabriel asked softly, his deep voice sending a pleasant shiver down her spine.
"I'm thinking about the day you broke down those cathedral doors," Paige murmured, turning around in his arms to look up into his dark, handsome face. "I thought you were my worst nightmare coming to claim me."
Gabriel smiled warmly, his thumb gently stroking her jawline—the exact spot where the bruise used to be. "And what do you think now?"
"I think you were the best thing that ever happened to me," she confessed softly, placing her hands on his chest, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heart. "You didn't just save my life, Gabriel. You gave me back my soul."
Gabriel looked down at her with a depth of love and fierce devotion that no longer needed to be hidden behind mob armor. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, sleek velvet box.
Paige’s breath hitched in her throat.
Gabriel opened the box, revealing a magnificent, flawless black diamond ring set in polished platinum. It was bold, untamed, and entirely unique—nothing like the traditional white diamond Colin had used to try to chain her.
"Paige," Gabriel said, his voice thick with rare emotion as he looked directly into her eyes. "I promised you six months ago that I would never force you into anything. You are a free woman. You have your own money, your own identity, and your own power. But I am asking you today, not as a syndicate boss, but as a man who loves you beyond words... will you choose to build a life with me? Will you be my wife?"
Tears of pure, overwhelming joy welled in Paige’s eyes. She didn't flinch. She didn't hesitate for a single second.
"Yes," Paige whispered, her voice ringing clear and strong. "Yes, Gabriel. I choose you."

Gabriel slid the black diamond ring onto her finger. It fit perfectly. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her deeply—a slow, passionate, breathtaking kiss that sealed their future forever.
Outside the ballistic glass, the golden sun finally dipped below the ocean horizon, giving way to a night filled with brilliant, shining stars. The dark storms of her past were officially over, replaced by a grand, prosperous, and unbroken new legacy built on true love, mutual respect, and unyielding strength.
