Chapter 2 - The Tables Turn Inside the Presidential SuiteThe absolute silence that fell over the Grand Meridian lobby was heavy enough to crush glass. Every single conversation stopped dead. The bellhops froze mid-stride, the concierge dropped his pen, and Patricia Voss looked as though she had just swallowed a mouthful of hot ash.

Adrien Rodriguez did not rush, but every single step he took across the marble floor carried the devastating momentum of an avalanche. His custom Italian leather shoes clicked with rhythmic precision. He bypassed the scattered contents of Camila’s backpack without looking down, his razor-sharp gaze locked entirely onto Frank Mercer's thick wrist, which was still gripping Camila’s bruised arm.
"Mr... Mr. Rodriguez!" Patricia stammered, her voice pitching up into an unnatural, frantic squeak as she fumbled for composure. "We—we didn't realize... There was a terrible administrative misunderstanding with the registry—"
Adrien did not even spare Patricia a single glance. He stopped two feet away from Frank. The security guard, despite his massive frame and years of tactical training, involuntarily swallowed hard and took a half-step backward under the sheer weight of Adrien’s murderous aura.
"Let her go," Adrien said. It was not a request. It was a death sentence delivered in a conversational whisper.
Frank instantly dropped his hand as if Camila’s arm had turned into burning coals. He backed away until his spine hit the mahogany front desk.
Camila rubbed her bruised elbow, her chest heaving slightly. Before she could speak, Adrien had already shrugged off his heavy charcoal overcoat. With tender, agonizing care, he draped the warm, cashmere garment over Camila’s shoulders, completely enveloping her in his scent of sandalwood and expensive cedar.
"Are you hurt, my heart?" Adrien asked, his voice instantly softening from a predator's growl into a tender caress as he cupped her cheek with his warm hand.
"I'm fine, Adrien," Camila murmured, leaning into his palm for a second before gesturing to the floor. "They threw my things everywhere. They claimed our reservation didn't exist, and Jessica deliberately crashed the card terminal."
Adrien slowly turned his head to look at the reception desk. Jessica Lane pressed her back so hard against the computer monitors she looked like she wanted to melt straight through the wall. Patricia’s knees were visibly shaking beneath her pencil skirt.
"Manager," Adrien said quietly, his voice like grinding ice.
"Yes, Mr. Rodriguez! Please, let us rectify this immediately! Your permanent presidential suite on the top floor has been prepared—" Patricia babbled, her hands wringing together so tightly her knuckles were translucent.
"My wife was dragged across this floor like a common criminal," Adrien interrupted smoothly, his eyes narrowing into cold slits. "Her belongings were dumped. Her dignity was assaulted by untrained thugs wearing your uniform. And your staff laughed at her."
"It was a mistake! A computer glitch!" Jessica shrieked in panic, tears springing to her eyes.
Adrien pulled a sleek black titanium phone from his breast pocket and tapped the screen once. "Vance," he spoke into the device, his tone chillingly casual. "Buy the Grand Meridian Hotel group. All shares, all liabilities, effective immediately. Execute the takeover clause by midnight. I want the ownership transfer finalized before breakfast."
Patricia gasped, clutching her chest. "Mr. Rodriguez, you can't—that's impossible! The board of directors—"

"The board of directors will be unemployed by sunrise," Adrien cut her off coldly, sliding the phone back into his pocket. He turned his attention back to Camila, offering her his arm with infinite grace. "Come, my love. Let us retire to our rooms. The air down here has suddenly become entirely too toxic to breathe."
As Adrien led Camila toward the private VIP elevators, the whispers of the stunned crowd erupted behind them. But neither of them looked back.
