Chapter 4 - The Boardroom ReckoningThe sun broke over the city skyline at 7:00 AM, casting a golden glow across the polished mahogany conference room on the 45th floor of the Grand Meridian. The heavy oak doors swung open with a sharp click, and Patricia Voss marched into the room, her face pale, exhausted, and streaked with dried tears. Behind her trailed Jessica Lane, trembling so violently she could barely keep her heels clicking in sync.

They had been summoned by urgent corporate mandate. They expected a disciplinary hearing. They had no idea what was actually waiting for them.
Seated at the head of the long mahogany table was Adrien Rodriguez. He wore a crisp charcoal three-piece suit, his silver-white hair immaculate, sipping black coffee from a porcelain cup. Standing directly behind him were two corporate attorneys holding thick leather-bound dossiers, flanked by federal financial investigators and city licensing officials.
Beside Adrien sat Camila. She wore a stunning emerald-green silk dress that contrasted sharply with her casual outfit from the night before, her hair cascading in soft waves over her shoulders. She looked every bit the powerful matriarch of the Rodriguez empire.
"Sit down," Adrien commanded. His voice echoed off the glass walls.
Patricia and Jessica collapsed into the nearest leather chairs, their eyes darting frantically around the room.
"Mr. Rodriguez... please," Patricia choked out, trying one last pathetic attempt at playing the victim. "We were only trying to maintain the exclusive standards of the Grand Meridian—"
"Exclusive standards?" Adrien interrupted, setting his coffee cup down with a sharp clack that made both women jump. He signaled to his lead attorney, who instantly dropped two heavy folders onto the table in front of them.
"Page four hundred and twelve, paragraph two," the attorney read in a monotone voice. "Systemic reservation redirection, embezzlement of client deposits through offshore shell entities, and intentional discrimination based on physical appearance and socioeconomic profiling."
Jessica burst into loud, ugly sobs, burying her face in her hands. "Patricia told me to do it! She said nobody in mom jeans would ever fight back!"
Patricia glared daggers at her former subordinate. "Shut up, you idiot—"
"That's enough," Adrien said, his voice dropping an octave into a tone of absolute, chilling finality. "The federal marshals are waiting outside in the corridor. Your bank accounts have been frozen under suspicion of corporate wire fraud and extortion. Every asset you own is currently being seized to pay restitution to the hundreds of victims you scammed over the years."
Patricia’s jaw went slack. She stared at Adrien in sheer, unadulterated horror, finally realizing the colossal, irreversible scale of her mistake. She had tried to throw away a woman she deemed worthless, only to demolish her own entire life.
Two federal agents stepped quietly into the boardroom from the side doors, their badges glinting in the morning light.

"Take them away," Adrien ordered without looking at them again.
As the crying women were hauled out of the room in handcuffs, Camila leaned back in her chair and took a slow sip of her tea, watching the city wake up below them. The storm had passed, leaving behind absolute peace.
