Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Corbetts and the True Heir’s Crown

Chaos erupted instantly around the council table. Shouts of protest from the corrupt faction clashed with stunned silence from the loyal capos. Dominic Vance went pale, realizing the horrifying magnitude of his miscalculation—he hadn't just framed a random waitress; he had attacked the mother of the future Vescari kingpin. Matteo didn't raise his voice, but the terrifying authority in his eyes silenced the room instantly. With a single flick of his wrist, Elias Romano and his enforcers marched into the boardroom, dragging Dominic Vance and confiscating the corporate assets of the Corbett family. Within forty-eight hours, the Corbett empire was systematically dismantled, Vanessa Corbett fled the state in absolute disgrace, and Dominic Vance was permanently banished from the city.

The very next afternoon, Hannah Reid stood in the grand foyer of the Vescari estate, holding little Leo's hand as they stared up at the towering marble ceilings and sprawling crystal chandeliers. She had fought tooth and nail against Matteo’s protection, refusing charity and demanding independence. But when Matteo knelt down on one knee before her son, looking into Leo’s bright, intelligent eyes with a gentleness nobody had ever witnessed from the ruthless mafia boss, Hannah’s defensive walls finally crumbled. Matteo stood up, walked over to Hannah, and gently took her uninjured hand in his, his gaze softening with a warmth that belonged only to her.

“You never had to fight alone, Hannah,” Matteo murmured softly, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. “And neither does he.” Little Leo looked up, tugging on Matteo’s expensive suit jacket. “Are you really a boss like in the storybooks, mister?” Matteo chuckled—a deep, resonant sound of pure joy—and scooped the boy up onto his shoulders. “Something like that, son. And one day, all of this will be yours.” Looking out over the magnificent estate with her son laughing safely on the shoulders of the most feared man in Philadelphia, Hannah finally realized she wasn't a broke waitress anymore. She was the queen of an empire, and the terrifying mafia king would burn the entire city to the ground before he ever let anyone hurt them again.
