Chapter 5 - The Only Woman He Would Ever Choose (The End)Six months later.

The spring sun of Manhattan washed over the gleaming glass facade of Moretti Holdings, casting a brilliant, warm glow across the sprawling executive penthouse. The air smelled of fresh white orchids and roasted coffee beans—a much sweeter scent than the cold anxiety of my old Brooklyn apartment.

I sat behind the expansive mahogany desk in the corner office, reviewing the final structural blueprints for our new community revitalization project in downtown Manhattan. Around my ring finger sparkled a breathtaking, custom-designed diamond ring—one that didn't belong to a fake holiday setup or a business arrangement, but to a very real, very permanent future.

The private elevator doors chimed softly down the hall.

A moment later, heavy, familiar footsteps approached my office. Luca walked in, having shed his suit jacket, his white dress shirt rolled up at the elbows to reveal the strong forearms that had built an empire.

He walked straight up behind my desk, leaned over, and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to the back of my neck.

"You've been staring at those blueprints for an hour, Mrs. Moretti," he murmured, his voice a deep, gravelly vibration against my skin.

I smiled, leaning back against his chest and turning my head to look up into his dark, affectionate eyes. "I'm just making sure every detail is perfect. After all, the Chief Operating Officer of Moretti Holdings has a reputation to uphold."

"The COO is brilliant," Luca agreed, a rare, breathtaking smile breaking across his handsome face. "Though her husband thinks she works entirely too hard."

"Her husband," I teased, reaching up to gently trace the strong line of his jaw, "is a notorious mafia billionaire who kidnapped his assistant to a family Christmas dinner just to trap her into a lifetime of happiness."

"It was the best tactical decision I ever made," Luca confessed without an ounce of shame.

Downstairs on the bustling streets of Manhattan, the city rushed past in its usual frantic blur, completely unaware of the quiet, unbreakable peace found inside our penthouse fortress. Francesca Rossi’s family empire had indeed collapsed under federal scrutiny months ago, completely neutralized without a single drop of syndicate violence—just cold, hard corporate justice executed by a man who chose legitimacy, and a woman who taught him what love truly meant.

Luca reached down, gently lifting me out of the executive chair and pulling me flush against his solid frame, his arms wrapping securely around my waist.

"Are you ready for our wedding in the Hamptons this weekend?" he asked softly, his gaze searching my face with an intensity that still made my breath catch after all this time.

I looped my arms around his neck, looking up into the eyes of the man who had terrified my world and then completely remade it into paradise.

"I've never been more ready for anything in my life," I whispered.

He pulled me close, sealing our past, our present, and our forever with a deep, passionate kiss as the bright Manhattan sun shone down upon us.
