Chapter 19 - THE HOTEL REOPENS THE FILE

The Bellafonte Hotel reopened its internal investigation.

The settlement with us remained valid.

We did not return money.

Grace’s medical costs had been real.

The hotel’s responsibility for its service controls remained part of why insurer paid.

But internal blame changed.

Sienna’s personnel file contained:

Failure to maintain allergen separation.

The hotel amended it.

New finding:

Safe dessert was prepared and initially controlled appropriately.

Host interference and unauthorized server substitution contributed directly.

Supervisory processes failed to prevent host access to service station.

Sienna’s report had been incomplete in emphasis but materially consistent.

The hotel sent her a formal correction.

Offered reinstatement consideration.

She declined.

They paid a negotiated employment settlement through counsel.

Not from me.

No favor.

Mark’s omission documented.

Training changed.

Host access restricted.

My company resumed events there only after safety review.

No demand to fire everyone.

I wrote Sienna one letter.

No reply required.

I used my family’s business leverage against you before I understood the facts. That was wrong. I am cooperating with the correction and will not contest your account of how my demand affected your career.

I did not add:

I was a scared father.

She knew.

It does not restore someone’s résumé.
