Chapter 10 - The Unraveling

Julian backed away toward the floor-to-ceiling glass window, his chest heaving. "This is a setup! Marcus, you don't know what you're doing! This woman is insane, she tricked all of you!"
"She didn't trick anyone, Julian," Victoria said, stepping forward, her voice cut with razor-sharp contempt. "I watched the terminal log myself from the security room. You transferred four million dollars from my personal trust account twenty minutes ago. You were planning to leave the country tonight."
Julian’s face went pale. He reached for his pocket, but the federal agents moved in swiftly. Within seconds, Julian’s arms were pinned behind his back, the metallic click of handcuffs ringing out in the quiet VIP lounge.
"Claire!" Julian yelled as he was forced down toward the carpet. "Claire, listen to me! You need me! Without my testimony, the state will still go after your father's estate! I'm the only one who can clear his name!"
Claire stood up from the table. She walked over to where Julian was held down, looking down at him without a single drop of fear left in her body.
"I don't need your testimony, Julian," Claire said softly. "The drive just sent the unredacted original ledgers directly to the State Attorney General. My father's name was cleared five minutes ago."
Julian stared at her, his jaw working silently as the realization sank in. His carefully constructed life, his second empire, his fortune—all of it had crumbled in less than an hour, torn down by the woman he had left behind in the dust.

The agents pulled Julian to his feet and began escorting him toward the service elevators.
As he was led away, Julian looked back over his shoulder, his eyes wide with a mix of shock and desperation, but Claire turned her back on him, looking out over the city skyline as the sun began to set.
