Chapter 24 - DANA AND JONAH

Dana testified.

Then Jonah.

Their versions collided.

Dana:

“I warned him anonymous credentials were improper.”

Jonah:

“She warned me after the first one.”

Dana:

“I told him before.”

Records showed a message:

These event aliases need named sponsorship and expiration.

Sent before the second confirmed misuse.

So Dana had warned.

Jonah admitted.

“Why continue?”

“I thought Celeste had Adrian’s authority.”

Did she say she did?

“No.”

“Did Adrian ever?”

“No.”

“Then?”

Jonah looked at me.

“People did what she asked.”

There.

Family power again.

Then Dana’s USB.

Defense attacked chain.

Correctly.

Personal copy.

Possibility of alteration.

Digital examiner authenticated files through hashes where available, metadata, server backups, email originals, and independent records.

Some files were excluded because they could not be sufficiently authenticated.

Good.

Evidence should shrink when verification fails.

The strongest remained.

Then Birdie.

“Why hide evidence in a child’s toy?”

Dana looked ashamed.

“I panicked.”

“Was that appropriate?”

“No.”

“Did you know Celeste might discover it?”

“I thought she wouldn’t touch Emma’s doll.”

The courtroom became quiet.

That assumption had nearly cost Emma more fear.

Dana continued:

“I was wrong.”
