Chapter 5 - Celeste Was Promised a Different FutureCeleste contacted Emma’s attorney two days later.

She brought the ring.

Not as an apology.

As evidence.

Nathan had told her he was divorcing Emma once a “share restructuring” was complete.

He promised that after Friday he would have enough voting control to become permanent executive chairman of Hale Precision.

Celeste believed the divorce was already being negotiated.

Emma felt no sympathy for the affair itself.

Celeste knew Nathan was married.

But she had not known about the forged transfer.

She showed Marcus messages in which Nathan wrote:

Once her signature clears, she can’t interfere anymore.

That sentence changed the corporate investigation.

It suggested Nathan did not merely benefit from a paperwork error.

He expected Emma’s signature to produce a specific result.

Celeste also revealed Nathan had purchased the diamond ring as a promise of a future engagement.

“He said you were keeping him trapped through the company.”

Emma looked at her.

“He told me he stayed because selling his shares would hurt employees.”

Neither woman spoke for a moment.

Nathan had created parallel stories again.

One marriage.

One affair.

Two audiences.

Emma refused to turn Celeste into a friend.

But she thanked her for preserving the messages.
