Chapter 7 - The Company Investigation Moves Beyond the MarriageHale Precision’s board opened an independent investigation.

Emma recused herself from decisions directly involving Nathan.
She wanted the process clean.
The review found no evidence Nathan had stolen company funds.
That mattered.
He had, however, used internal legal staff improperly in preparing documents that benefited his control and had failed to disclose conflicts connected to Emma’s share transfer.
The forged signature became the most serious issue.
Forensic specialists traced the document’s creation through a chain of drafts and approvals.
Nathan denied personally forging it.
Investigators could not immediately prove who physically created the signature.
But emails showed he knew the version submitted was not properly executed.
That distinction mattered legally.
The board suspended him from executive authority pending resolution.
Emma did not replace him.
An interim executive was appointed independently.
Relatives asked why she did not seize control.
“Because this isn’t revenge.”
That answer disappointed people who wanted a dramatic family war.
Emma had learned something from Nathan.
Power became dangerous when every conflict was treated as permission to use all of it.
Her marriage could end personally.
The company still belonged to employees, investors, and customers who had nothing to do with Celeste or the jewelry store.

Separating those worlds became one of the hardest things Emma had ever done.
It also became proof she was nothing like the man who tried to combine them.
