Chapter 11 - THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE

Police arrested Adrian that evening after reviewing the house cameras, my statement, medical documentation, and his own admissions.
The exact charge depended on local domestic-violence statutes and the pregnancy-related facts.
No need to inflate it.
He had slapped his heavily pregnant wife hard enough to knock her over a chair.
That was serious without invention.
A protective order followed.
No direct contact except through counsel and later court-approved channels.
Dad’s shove was reviewed separately.
Video showed Adrian approaching me again immediately after the first assault, Dad stepping between us, knocking him backward with both hands, then stopping.
No continuing attack.
Authorities declined charges against Dad.
He was relieved.
Then said:
“I still wanted to hit him.”
“I know.”
“Not same thing.”
“No.”

My father had lived around powerful men long enough to understand the difference between feeling and action.
Adrian learned it through court orders.
