Chapter 23 - TERESA LEARNS RENT

Teresa eventually met Dad at a foundation dinner.
Six years after everything.
She approached.
He looked suspicious.
She said:
“I owe you an apology.”
“For which invoice?”
My father.
Teresa almost smiled.
Then:
“I treated your properties as though marrying our children made them partly ours.”
“Yes.”
“I knew better.”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t behave like it.”
“No.”
She inhaled.
“I’m sorry.”
Dad nodded.
Then:
“East Yard rent is due Friday.”
She actually laughed.
Their relationship became civil again.
